A Fire Alarm System Notices First, Then Tells Everyone
It is a network of detectors, manual call points, a control panel and warning devices. IS 2189, the Indian code of practice, describes it as a system that detects a fire automatically, starts an alarm and initiates other required actions. Its purpose is to detect fire as early as practicable and warn the people inside.
01
Detect
A smoke or heat detector senses a change, or someone presses a manual call point.
02
Signal
The device sends its signal to the fire alarm control panel.
03
Decide
The panel identifies the zone or device and applies its programmed logic.
04
Warn and Act
Sounders and strobes activate. The panel can also signal pumps, public address, lifts, door releases or HVAC.
Conventional or Addressable?
IS 2189 covers both, from simple systems with a few call points to complex addressable installations.
Zone Level
Conventional
Detectors share zone circuits. The panel shows which zone is in alarm, not which device.
- Suits small, single-floor premises
- Simple to understand and operate
- Slower fault-finding as the site grows
Device Level
Addressable
Each device has its own address on a loop. The panel shows the exact detector or call point.
- Suits large, multi-floor and multi-building sites
- Faster fault-finding and maintenance
- Spare loop capacity leaves room to expand
Find The Detection Approach For Your Building
Pick your building type. Final selection always follows a site survey and the governing standard.
SPOT DETECTORS BY AREA, ADDRESSABLE PANEL
Pharmaceutical, textile and chemical plants add heat, dust, vapours or solvents. Those conditions decide which detectors you can use.
Smoke or heat by area
Hazardous-area equipment, dust and steam
Addressable
From Site Survey To Handover
We study layout, occupancy, ceiling heights, storage and process hazards, and the existing fire systems.
Detector layouts, loop and zone drawings, and a cause-and-effect matrix that lists what each alarm must trigger.
Panels, detectors and devices suited to the risk, backed by OEM test certificates.
We route cables, mount devices and label every circuit.
Zones, addresses and interfaces to the sprinkler pumps, public address system and other connected systems.
Every detector, call point and sounder, the panel’s fault responses, and the power supply on battery backup.
As-built drawings, test records and an operator briefing. An AMC keeps the system ready afterwards.

What Drives The Design
HAZARD AND USE
A paint store, a hotel corridor and a server room need different detection methods.
CEILING HEIGHT AND AIRFLOW
Both affect how smoke reaches a detector.
ENVIRONMENT
Dust, steam, humidity and cold cause false alarms if the detector type is wrong.
ZONING AND EVACUATION
The alarm layout should match how people actually leave the building.
INTERFACES AND EXPANSION
Define what the alarm starts or stops, test it, and leave spare loop capacity.
What Governs the Work
Fifth Revision of the Indian code of practice for selection, installation and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems.
Fire and life safety in buildings.
Sometimes specified for multinational or insured facilities. Covers installation, testing and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
Why Professional Installation Matters
A fire alarm system fails quietly. A wrongly spaced detector, a weak cable joint or an untested interface looks fine until the day it counts. IS 2189 expects a system that is reliable, tested after installation and built so one fault does not cascade into others. Good design also cuts false alarms, which teach people to ignore the real one.
Under Delhi’s amended rules an auditor’s certificate does not remove the owner’s or occupier’s primary responsibility for maintaining fire safety measures. Installing the system right, and servicing it afterwards, stays with you.
Fire Alarm Services Across Delhi NCR
We work from Noida and take projects across the region. Each location has its own fire authority and approval route: Delhi follows the Delhi Fire Service Act and Rules, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad fall under Uttar Pradesh, and Gurugram and Faridabad under Haryana. Your design must satisfy the authority for your site.

Fire Alarm FAQs
Cost depends on floor area, number of devices and loops, detector types, cabling, panel capacity and interfaces. A site survey lets us quote against the actual scope rather than a rough rate.
Small single-floor premises can use conventional panels. Large, multi-floor or multi-building sites usually need addressable panels, which pinpoint the exact device in alarm.
It depends on building type, height and area. Delhi's rules cover classes such as assembly buildings, business buildings above 15 metres and industrial buildings above 250 square metres.6 Check the requirement with your fire authority or a fire safety consultant before you design.
IS 2189:2026 covers selection, installation and maintenance. NBC 2016 Part 4 covers fire and life safety. NFPA 72 applies where a project specifies it.
Small premises can take days. Large plants and multi-building campuses take weeks to months. The programme depends on area, working restrictions and your shutdown windows. We confirm it after the survey.
IS 2189 includes inspection, testing and maintenance requirements. Most sites combine routine in-house checks with periodic servicing under an AMC, set against the standard and the manufacturer's instructions.
Yes. We replace outdated parts and reuse components that still work and meet current requirements.
