Paint Booth Fire Suppression System

Fire Hydrant Systes

A Paint Booth Fire Suppression System is a specialized fire protection solution designed to detect and suppress fires in spray painting environments, where flammable vapors and overspray create high fire risks. These systems are engineered to comply with NFPA 33 (Standard for Spray Application Using Flammable or Combustible Materials) and UL 1254 where applicable.

Key Features:

  • Automatic Detection and Activation: Heat-sensitive fusible links or linear pneumatic heat detection tubes trigger the system in the event of a fire.
  • Wet Chemical or Dry Chemical Agents:
    1. Dry chemical systems (typically ABC or BC powder) are fast-acting and ideal for suppressing flammable liquid fires.
    2. Wet chemical systems may be used in booths with combustible materials or special requirements.
  1. Discharge Nozzles: Strategically placed to cover critical areas such as:
    1. Exhaust plenum and ducts
    2. Spray area
    3. Mixing and storage rooms

Manual Pull Stations: For emergency activation in addition to automatic triggering.

Control Panel Integration: Interfaces with fire alarm systems or Building Management Systems (BMS) for shutdown of ventilation and electrical equipment during discharge.

UL/FM-Approved Components: Ensures compliance and reliability.

Additional Safety Interlocks:

  1. Shutdown of spray operations and ventilation fans during activation
  2. Audible/visual alarms for pre-discharge warning
  3. Post-discharge system lockout until manual reset

Applications

  1. Automotive and industrial spray booths
  2. Paint mixing rooms
  3. Aerospace and marine finishing facilities
